Infant and Toddler Nursery

Romans 12:1 - "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present yourselves a living sacrifice."

Infant Nursery

Ages 3 months to walking

Nursery aged children (infants and toddlers) are cared for by church volunteers and paid workers. All volunteers and workers are required to have current background checks on file in the church office.

The infant nursery is equipped with a special room for nursing mothers.  We welcome you to stay anytime to meet the needs of your new baby.

At the end of every Sunday and Wednesday, the rooms and toys are cleaned thoroughly to prevent the spread of germs the next time the room is used.  We do our best to keep our infant and toddler rooms sanitary for the sake of the children's health.

All parents are welcome to stay with their children in the nursery for any length of time to ensure their children are happy and content.  We also welcome and encourage parents to volunteer for the nursery.  To read more about volunteering, click HERE.

Toddler Nursery

Walking to 3 years

The Toddler Nursery includes 15 minutes of Bible Class during the main service.  Class time includes songs, crafts and a Bible story. We also  emphasize the importance of the Bible by allowing children to hold, feel, and "use" a real Bible. Our desire is that children will understand at an early age how valuable and important the Bible is for their lives.

The toddler nursery has regular volunteers and paid workers.  The teachers in charge of TBLT (Toddler Bible Learning Time) prepare their lessons during the week and host the TBLT during the main service. Qualified volunteers from the youth group often participate as helpers too.

Snacks are given to toddlers during both services. Please let us know if your child cannot have snacks or is allergic to anything in particular.

Curriculum - The TBLT (Toddler Bible Learning Time) uses Regular Baptist Press materials.  The current curriculum (Spring 2007), is entitled: Jesus' Love and Care; Peter Loves Jesus

About Volunteering:

How are your kids doing?   We encourage new members to volunteer for the nursery periodically so they can see first hand how well their children are interacting with the teachers and other students. Rather than excluding parents, we want you to be involved!

Looking for new friends?   Volunteering gives you the chance to meet and interact with other parents in the church.  The infant nursery has long been a place of socialization for new moms who are often otherwise cut off from adult interaction! As relationships among children grow, so do the relationships among parents. It is common to see parents of like-aged children developing long term friendships and interacting outside of the church arena.

Too much work?   In an effort to encourage personal growth, we deliberately limit the amount of work we request of each volunteer. We don't want anyone to feel overloaded or that they are not able to attend Bible Studies because of their work at the church. Our volunteers only work one Sunday per month. Then, each quarter, we request new volunteers so that the others can stay involved in other classes. You can volunteer as much or as little as you like.

Background Checks?  For the safety and protection of our children, all nursery, children, and youth workers are required to submit to a background check and to have on file, a signed copy of the SLBC Child Protection Policy Receipt Acknowledgement Form indicating that they have read and agree to adhere to the Sugar Land Bible Church Child Protection Policy. We do not take lightly the care of our children and hope that you understand and appreciate the precautions we take to protect them.

Who do I talk to?   If you would like to volunteer, please contact the church office or the Nursery Coordinator, Geraldine Paz.
