Community Outreach Projects
Our church members love to be involved in the community and the world at large. Below are some of our needs-based community outreach projects through which we share Christ's love with others.
East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry - The East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry addresses the needs of Fort Bend residents who are in the midst of temporary financial crisis. SLBC collects food in the foyer of the church for the Food Pantry every week. Each month's needs are listed in the Sunday bulletin. During the holidays, we also collect food for "Holiday Food Baskets," which include non-perishables and turkey coupons. For more information about this month's needs and the ministry of EFBHNM, click here. Second Mile Mission Center - Second Mile Mission Center provides an opportunity for people in and around Fort Bend County to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by, first, building a relationship through unconditioinal love that meets their physical needs. Their core current areas of service include a food pantry, a clothing room, household goods and furniture, medical and dental services, and financial assistance. We help Second Mile with financial support through our Mission Committee. Share-A-Meal Ministry - This ministry is offered to visitors, members, and regular attendees of SLBC. To meet the needs of individuals and families during troubled times, our volunteers deliver ready-to-serve meals for up to two weeks. Typical needs-based events include the recent birth of a child, post-hospitalization, crippling illnesses, and deaths in the family. Share-A-Meal is always in search of new volunteers, so if you 'd like to sign up, please contact Rachel Elsner through the church office. Wrapped in Love - Spearheaded by the women of the church, this ministry reaches out to friends and families in neighboring communities. Hand-made bankets and shawls are given to show encouragement and love to those who are going through emotional and physical difficulties. While making the blankets and shawls, the women pray for the person who receives them. For more information about this ministry, contact Nancy Heiser through the church office.
